A FEW SUCCESS STORIES

LORIE_edited.jpg

MISS LORI

I never imagined this outcome when I arrived at the Shelter. The Naomi's Place staff not only helped me end my cycle of homelessness and Alcohol Addiction but they reconnected me with my family. When I arrived at the shelter, I have to admit that I was mean and ending up causing a great deal of problems including relapsing but the residents and staff loved me through my pain. My life is forever changed because people just simply cared.

MISS MISTY

I am just grateful to be here, coming from a history of bad relationships, it isn't just that I got housed, It's a place to leave to finally leave my stuff without any worries.

It may sound silly to some but I don't have to get up at 6 a.m. and take everything I own when I leave. Trust me, being homeless can wear on your very soul.

Here at Naomi's Place, I have a bed and I can get my mind together to stay clean and fight to get custody of my child back. It is the little things like having my own bathroom. If I am sick, I can safely take a nap. It's just those basic things that I feel we all take for granted.

MISS ALICE

For me it was a big deal being able to stay here. I was homeless off an on for the past few years because I could not trust anyone. I am hard of hearing and was tired of people taking advantage of me. Coming here was me taking a chance and expecting them to say that they did not have any room for me because of my disability but I was shocked that they took me in the same day.

I came to the talk to someone about finding somewhere to live with just the clothes on my back not expecting anything good to happen. Thank God that nothing but good has happened since I came here.

I have been able to work and make friends and even date again. I am still working on self worth but at least I know now that people in the world care about me. I promise to come back and say thank you to the people of Naomi's Place.

MISS DELLA MCDONALD

I am grateful to God, my family and Naomi’s Place for:
Giving me a second chance at LIFE… I want to LIVE and enjoy my family and being here has help guide me towards that!

I have been blessed with a job and will be getting my driver’s license soon! I know that, only the things that I do for Jesus Christ will last.

If I did it, You can do it too!

God Bless,

Della McDonald

MISS LISA COOPER

I have been a family member since April 2010 and have finally been able to prove to be a lead example in being responsible and trustworthy. I volunteered within the house and glad to have a roof over my head. I was selected to be the Lead Resident within the house and it makes me feel good to be able to help current and new residents stay on task. It is not an easy road trying to stay off of drugs and alcohol but having a Sponsor and attending NA and AA Meetings are a big part of maintaining our sobriety. Feels like my time here flew only being here from April 2010 to March 2011.

With the help of Naomi's Place I will also be moving on to permanent housing. I admit that I am afraid to leave the only place that has given me a real chance in over 5 years and I know it is only because of my poor choices.  Let me tell you, I have messed up more times than I would like to admit being here at Naomi's Place, but I was given chances to grow. I wish my fellow NA and AA friends well and will miss them. Thanks again Naomi’s Place!

MEET MISS CHRISTINA

CHRISTINAGIRLS1.jpg

MISS CHRISTINA

Christina is one of the 2019 graduates who says she is ready to start her new life.

Being apart of Naomi's Place has turned me from an immature mass manipulator into a woman of can be trusted. It's helped me grow up. It taught me all the things I need to know to act like a law abiding citizen! All I knew was how to maneuver to get what I needed and the streets. Now, I'm an educated and earning honest money.

During my time in the program, we as women, learned how to transition from being defined by our addiction, to the people we always dreamed of becoming.

That life, will never have me again, because I know that I have so much more to offer this world, and people, and myself. I started to believe in myself and just realized that I can change. It starts with myself, and then I can be a better person for other people.

When saying other people, I am thinking of my two beautiful daughters who lived with between their father and my immediate family for years.

"I struggled with a lot of internal issues, some of my family and a lot of my friends had lifestyles, that ultimately were not beneficial for me as a person, let alone a mother.

I won't complain about going through a lot because my daughters are actually the ones who suffered as I tried to figure my own life out. Naomi's Place is the one program that was life-changing. "It's not just about staying clean and sober, I really had to retrain my whole mindset because I've been through so much dysfunction in my life.

I had seasons from not making the right choices that caused me not to have my daughters and sometimes not having any type of communication with my family. Thank God, that is no longer my story because I was lost, broke down dealing with hurt, guilt and shame but I am free and strong today! I

THE BEAUTY OF ME BEING A MOTHER "AGAIN"........

I am happy to share that I have actually  been sober for several years now which led me to obtain my 2 daughters back, having a great relationship with my family, started college, graduated with honors and met and maintained some pretty great relationships. With my new found relationship with God, the staff at Naomi's Place, Rodman Church and my own Self will, I can finally say that, "It is well with my soul"

MISS AMANDA

I once lived a life where I didn’t need to count pennies. If we wanted to see a movie, we went. If we wanted to go to dinner, we went. I’m not there yet, but I’m back on my feet living in a home we can afford. I don’t know where we would be without this organization.

My pride got in the way more times than I would like to admit but it humbled me to transition on to greater things. I have really appreciated the hard times that I experienced and most of all being grateful because it is a Christian organization that really were the hands and feet of Jesus. Prayer works! and God is good.
